PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material for an absorbent article, in which a guest material is combined with a host material and compatibility of liquid diffusion and cushioning can be realized, and an absorbent article using the same.SOLUTION: A composite material for an absorbent article includes a host material whose surface is positively or negatively charged in a predetermined solvent and a guest material whose surface is charged into electric charges opposite to the surface of the host material in the predetermined solvent owing to electrostatic interaction, the guest material being absorbed into the host material. The host material includes a nonwoven substrate as a substrate, whereas the guest material includes, as a substrate, a plurality of hydrophilic particle substrates with an average particle diameter being less than an average fiber diameter of the nonwoven substrate or a plurality of hydrophilic fiber substrates with an average fiber diameter being less than an average fiber diameter of the nonwoven substrate.
