PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic comprising dihydric alcohol and alcohol diester of fatty acid, which is excellent in washability, low irritation, moisture retention and use feeling and allows reduction in environmental load and a production method thereof a cosmetic composition comprising the alcohol diester of fatty acid a cosmetic comprising the cosmetic composition and a production method thereof and an industrial cleanser comprising the alcohol diester of fatty acid, which is excellent in washability and low erosion resistance and allows reduction in environmental load.SOLUTION: (1) A cosmetic contains an emulsifier, 1,3-propanediol and 1,3-propanediol difatty acid ester, where the mass ratio of n-octanoic acid to n-decanoic acid constituting the 1,3-propanediol difatty acid ester is 90:10 to 40:60.
