The present invention provides a production method for neural cells or nerve tissue, the method including steps (1)-(3): (1) a first step for culturing pluripotent stem cells in the absence of feeder cells in a culture medium that includes 1) a TGF-ß family signal transduction pathway inhibitor and/or a sonic hedgehog signal transduction pathway activator and 2) a non-differentiation maintenance factor； (2) a second step for culturing the cells obtained in the first step in suspension so as to form an aggregate of cells； and (3) a third step for culturing the aggregate of cells obtained in the second step in suspension in the presence or absence of a differentiation inducing factor so as to obtain an aggregate that includes nerve cells or nerve tissue.
