The frame is for a slicing machine with rotating sickle-shaped knife, bread channel, and machine foot. It has two support girders (11,12) connected to, or forming, the knife housing (1). A substructure (9) containing a crumb container (7), and/or the machine foot is connected to the support girders. The girders are folded at an angle, at right angels to the feed direction (18) of the bread, and are connected to form the knife housing. They extend over the full length of the bread feed channel (3) and discharge channel (4), and do not cover the knife (6) when it is in its lowest position.
