The present invention relates to a device and a method thereof for spill and boil over detection of milk, comprising a heating source at least one infrared temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of milk a microcontroller in communication with sensor arranged to receive an input signal from temperature sensor and determine at least one of a boiling condition for milk contained within the utensil at least one buzzer in close proximity with microcontroller that generates an audible alert to the user until user comes and power off the device of a boil over event a power source and a LED. The method of operation of the device, comprises the steps of providing heat to a liquid in utensil placed on the heating source sensing the temperature of milk with infrared temperature sensor determining and monitoring of at least one boiling condition for milk contained within utensil by microcontroller and alerting the user on completion of at least one boiling phase by generating said alarm for a predefined amount of time.
