SOLUTION: The phototherapy device 1 performs phototherapy to irradiate a human body with light rays, and has a light source 27 for irradiating light rays and a temperature sensor 28 for detecting the temperature in the vicinity of a predetermined region of the human body irradiated with light rays. A control unit 15 that controls the intensity of light rays emitted by the light source 27 based on the detection temperature detected by the temperature sensor 28 is provided. When the detection temperature reaches a predetermined high-temperature side threshold temperature, the control unit 15 activates a preparation mode for reducing the intensity of the light rays emitted by the light source 27.
