<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for imparting an insect pest ingestion inhibitory property to the agriculturally useful plants of Leguminousae, prompting growth, increasing the number of attached pea pods, increasing the number of root nodules and also increasing yield. <；P>；SOLUTION: This method comprises a process of artificially infecting bacteria belonging to the genus Variovorax or the genus Methylobacterium, having the capabilities of living together in the plant bodies of Leguminousae, imparting the insect pest ingestion inhibitory property to the plants, prompting the growth of the plants, increasing the number of attached pea pods of the plants, increasing the number of root nodules in the plants and also increasing yield of the plants [specifically, Variovorax sp.
