<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene controlling growth of a plant, to provide a method for utilizing the gene to control the growth of a plant (modification of flowering time or heading time), and to provide a method for judging the intensity of the photosensitivity of a plant with the gene as a target. <;P>;SOLUTION: A high precision linkage analysis of a gene locus (Hd16 gene locus) controlling the growth of the plant and detected between rice breeds: Nihonbare and Koshihikari was performed to select a candidate gene of Hd16. In addition, a complementarity assay for confirming that the narrowed candidate gene practically acts on heading was carried out. Consequently, it is clarified that the gene isolated as the Hd16 candidate gene has a function for adjusting heading days, and it is found that the gene can control a heading time and the growth of the plant. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
