An optical fiber cable 1 configured from an optical fiber core 3, a tension member 7, an outer sheath 11, and the like. The optical fiber core 3 comprises a glass wire and a resin coating section, and in addition, has a transparent member 5 covering the outer-circumferential section thereof. For example, urethane acrylate, PVC, nylon and the like are usable as the transparent member 5. It is preferable for the transparent member 5 to have a total light transmittance of 60% or higher when measured in accordance with JIS K7361-1. If the total light transmittance is less than 60%, the color of the optical fiber core 3 (transparent member 5) is intense, and stands out. In addition, it is even more preferable for the total light transmittance of the transparent member 5 to be 80% or higher.
