[Problem] The properties of artificially produced pearls are determined by the mother-of-pearl and the inserted mantle. In conventional technology, the type of pearls that can be artificially produced have been limited because the mother-of-pearl and the shell from which the mantle is derived were the same type. [Solution] Provided are: a mother-of-pearl holding therein cells derived from a type of shell different from the mother-of-pearl a production method for said mother-of-pearl and a production method for pearls using said mother-of-pearl. This mother-of-pearl has reduced nucleus rejection and mortality, even when a piece of mantle from a different type of shell is inserted into the mother-of-pearl. A pearl is formed from the inserted mantle piece, therefore a pearl can be produced that has the properties of the shell from which the mantel was derived.[Problème] Linvention est basée sur le constat selon lequel les propriétés des perles produites artificiellement sont déterminées par la nacre et le manteau inséré. Dans la technologie conventionnelle, le type de perles qui peuvent être produites artificiellement était jusquà présent limité car la nacre et la coquille doù est tiré le manteau étaient du même type. [Solution] Linvention concerne: une nacre renfermant des cellules tirées dun type de coquille différent de la nacre un procédé de production de ladite nacre et un procédé de production de perles utilisant ladite nacre. Cette nacre est caractérisée par des taux réduits de rejet du noyau et de mortalité, même lorsquun morceau de manteau dun type de coquille différent est inséré dans la nacre.
