PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a radiation image having excellent quality by reducing artifact in the image with a relatively simple configuration without requiring wiring between a radiation source and a radiation imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: Control means 170 selectively performs actual reading operation for reading, from signal reading means 207, an electric signal obtained by operating driving means 202 when X-ray detection means 150 detects X-ray irradiation, and idle reading operation for reading, from the signal reading means 207, an electric signal obtained by operating the driving means 202 when the X-ray detection means 150 detects non-irradiation of X-ray. At the time of the idle reading operation, the control means 170 stops the idle reading operation when the X-ray detection means 150 has detected the start of X-ray irradiation, and starts the actual reading operation when the X-ray detection means 150 has detected the completion of X-ray irradiation.
