A baking oven moving belt has parallel sub-surface supports between adjacent hinges in the direction of travel. A belt consists of a series of linked sections. The upper face of each section (1) extends at its leading and trailing edges to form part of a hinge linking adjacent sections. The hinges are at right angles to the direction of travel (5).The lower face (13) of each link between each hinge sleeve (7) stands proud. The belt slides over a supporting surface from which it is separated by parallel spacer strips (4) the lowest point of which is no higher than the sleeve (7). The spacer strips (4) are arranged in series in the direction of travel (5).
