The present invention relates to adapted Enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine strains suitable for increased vaccine production for mammals. The EV71 vaccine strains contain at least one modified enterovirus protein that results in increased production of the EV71 virus from a mammalian host cell, such as a Vero cell.
