According to the present invention, there has been a demand for a novel platinum (IV)complex which has sufficient levels of solubility in water, stability, an anti-tumor activity and the like that are properties required for medicines and which can be used clinically, and therefore a platinum (IV)complex is provided which is represented by general formula (I) [wherein each of X1 and X2 represents a halogen atom or X1 and X2 together form a dicarboxylate group selected from the group consisting of an oxalate group, a malonate group, a succinate group or an o-phthalate group； and Y represents a halogen atom].
