The present invention relates to a gel-type artificial cartilage comprising a cell derived from a cartilage tissue of a fetus and extracellular matrix derived from a cartilage tissue of a fetus as active components for treating cartilage loss. The artificial cartilage of the present invention can prepare a three-dimensional tissue having diameter of 5 mm or more without using an artificial support body. Also, the artificial cartilage has a phenotype of a mature cartilage tissue, and has flexible and elastic physical characteristics which are not hard. Thus, the artificial cartilage can be easily transplanted regardless of the size and shape of the cartilage loss, and has excellent bonding strength with a host tissue, thereby having an excellent advantage of cartilage regeneration.본 발명은 태아연골조직 유래 세포 및 태아연골조직 유래 세포외기질(extracellular matrix)를 유효성분으로 포함하고, 젤 형태(gel type)인 인공연골 및 상기 인공연골을 유효성분으로 함유하는 연골결손 치료용 조성물에 대한 것으로, 특히 본 발명에서 개시하는 인공연골조직은 인위적인 지지체를 사용하지 않고도 직경 5mm 이상의 큰 크기의 3차원 조직을 제작할 수 있으며, 성숙한 연골조직의 표현형을 가지면서도 물리적 특성이 딱딱하지 않고 유연성과 탄성을 가지고 있기 때문에 연골결손의 크기와 모양에 관계없이 쉽게 이식이 가능하며 숙주조직과의 결합력이 우수하여 연골재생 효능이 뛰어난 장점을 가지고 있다.
