FIELD: oil and gas industry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to refining petroleum and petroleum products, from sulfur-, nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds by contacting with an inorganic sorbent and sonication, and can be used in the preparation of oil for transportation and/or in the cycle of crude oil preparation for processing or refining petroleum products before use to reduce the content of heteroatom components in oil by 5.28–5.34 %. Method for refining oil from heteroatomic components involves the use of a sorbent as a mixture of oxide powders: NiO:CuO:CoO:CaO in relation to 1.0:2.0:1.0:(0.5–0.7) mass parts, which is mixed with oil in a ratio of 1:5 at atmospheric pressure. Resulting mixture of sorbent and oil is subjected to ultrasound at a frequency of 22 kHz and an intensity of 0.15 W/mwith a treatment time of not more than 10 minutes, filtered. Remaining oil is washed off from the sorbent with a mixture of hexane-benzene-ethanol solvents, followed by its distillation at atmospheric pressur
