Provided is an ultrasound imaging apparatus and a control method thereof, the apparatus being capable of obtaining a more accurate shear modulus image by removing an inefficient region such as a blood vessel by using a shear observation signal in a section in which an object is not affected by a push pulse. An ultrasound imaging apparatus according to one embodiment may comprise: an ultrasound probe that irradiates an object with a push pulse for generating a shear wave in the object, irradiates a first observation signal after the push pulse is irradiated, and irradiates a second observation signal before the push pulse is irradiated or after the first observation signal is irradiated； a control unit that determines an inefficient region of the object on the basis of displacement data for each region of the object obtained from the irradiated second observation signal, and generates a shear modulus image on the basis of the determined inefficient region and the displacement data for each region of the object obtained from the irradiated first observation signal； and a display that displays the generated shear modulus image.L'invention concerne un appareil d'imagerie par ultrasons et son procédé de commande, l'appareil étant capable d'obtenir une image de module de cisaillement plus précise par élimination d'une région inefficace telle qu'un vaisseau sanguin en utilisant un signal d'observation de cisaillement dans une section où un objet n'est pas affecté par une impulsion de poussée.
