PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel agent for inducing thermotolerance in plant wherein an active ingredient is clearly determined and a method of inducing thermotolerance in plant using the novel agent for inducing thermotolerance in plant.SOLUTION: The novel agent for inducing thermotolerance in plant includes isothiocyanate as an active ingredient. Desirably, the isothiocyanate is at least one selected among phenethyl isothiocyanate, allyl isothiocyanate and methylisothiocyanate, and a plant expresses a heat shock protein.
