PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pad type disposable diaper which is easy to fold in a mountain. SOLUTION: In a pad type disposable diaper 200 provided with a rising gather 60, the rising gather 60 is a root portion 65 fixed to a side flap SF extending laterally from a side edge of an absorber 23. And the main body portion 66 extending outward from the width direction WD center side of the root portion 65 in the width direction WD, and the front lodging portion 67f and the rear lodging portion 67b located at the front end portion and the rear end portion of the main body portion 66. The main body portion 66 has a rising portion 68 located between the two, and the main body portion 66 has a protruding portion 69 that protrudes 1 to 10 mm outside the side edge of the side flap SF in the width direction WD in the unfolded state over the entire front-rear direction LD. However, this is solved by having the gathered elastic member 63 in the protruding portion 69.
