The method involves transporting the containers (10) along a predetermined transport path by a clean room (20). The clean room is defined with the walls (22,24) in relation to the environment. The containers are sterilized in sections by application of charge carriers. The charge carriers are produced and an exit window of a sterilization device (1) is accessed to the containers. The exit window is cooled by a gas flow. The gas flow is removed from the clean room. An independent claim is included for a device for sterilizing containers.
