The invention relates to a double grafting method for preventing a scion of a melon grafted seedling from generating a root inserted into soil to be infected with soil-borne diseases. Primarily, the scion is grafted with two rootstocks, wherein the cut surfaces at two sides of the scion is grafted with the cut surfaces of the hypocotyls of two rootstocks not over than the depth of a hollow medullary cavity of the hypocotyls. Accordingly, it can not only save the time of grafting procedure and reduce the time of scion growth affected by grafting action but also significantly improve the graft survival rate. Furthermore, it can prevent the scion from generating its root in the medullary cavity of the hypocotyls of the rootstocks to avoid the phenomenon that the root of the scion is inserted into the soil along the medullary cavity and contacted with the soil. Thus it can avoid the scion to be infected with soil-borne diseases.
