PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-toxic composition to bind acetaldehyde present in a stomach, an intestine and/or a colon.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a non-toxic composition which binds acetaldehyde present in the stomach, intestine and/or colon. The composition comprises one or more acetaldehyde-binding compounds (plural number acceptable) comprising one or more free sulfhydryl and/or amino groups. The compounds (plural number acceptable) are mixed with a non-toxic carrier that effects sustained release of the compounds (plural number acceptable) in the gastrointestinal tract.
