PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide green tea extract reduced in bitter taste and harsh taste containing≥30 wt.% of epigallocatechin gallate and gallocatechin gallate as green tea catechin in total, and to provide drink and food containing the green tea extract. SOLUTION: The green tea extract is obtained through treatment using an adsorbent, and contains (A) the epigallocatechin gallate, (B) the gallocatechin gallate, (C) myricetin, (D) quercetin, and (E) kaempferol at a content weight ratio ((C)+(D)+(E))/((A)+(B)) of≤0.0025.
