PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film guard preparation capable of forming film on the skin for protecting hands and feet subject to physical shocks.

SOLUTION: The film guard preparation is such as to be obtained by dissolving nitrocellulose in a dissolving agent, i.e. 3-methylbutyl acetate, isobutyl acetate or acetone, or a mixture thereof, followed by addition of ethyl alcohol. For the purpose of controlling the coefficient of friction and/or mechanical strength of film to be formed, an appropriate amount of a water-soluble polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinylpyrrolidone may be incorporated in this preparation. Following applying this preparation onto the skin, the solvent is volatilized to form transparent or translucent film is formed on the skin as applied site(s) to seal up the affected site(s) and protect the applied site(s) with the film, thus mitigating or reducing external physical shocks on the skin and also protecting the skin from chemical irritation and/or bacterial infection.
