PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition not having the defects of conventional techniques and used for drying, especially oxidation dyeing, keratin fibers.SOLUTION: The composition for dyeing or lightening human keratin fibers comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, (a) at least 25 wt.% of one or more fatty substances different from fatty acids, (b) 10 moles to 80 moles of one or more ethylene oxide-containing nonionic surfactants, (c) one or more dyes selected from oxidation dyes and direct dyes, or mixtures thereof, one or more basifying agents, or mixtures thereof, and (d) at least one oxidizing agent. A method for dyeing or lightening method uses the same.
