The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for increasing the fertilizing capacity of sperm cells. The method comprises irradiating said sperm cells with non-coherent red light, the irradiation with non-coherent red light being performed in a discontinuous manner according to a pattern including at least one sequence of two irradiation periods of specific durations which are separated by an intermediate period of darkness of a specific duration. Each of said specific periods of irradiation and darkness it lasts between 8 and 15 minutes. The apparatus is configured for implementing the method.La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant d'augmenter la capacité de fertilisation des spermatozoïdes. Le procédé comprend l'exposition desdits spermatozoïdes à une lumière rouge non cohérente, l'exposition à la lumière rouge non cohérente étant effectuée d'une manière discontinue selon un schéma comprenant au moins une séquence de deux périodes d'exposition de durées spécifiques qui sont séparées par une période intermédiaire d'obscurité d'une durée spécifique. Chacune de ces périodes spécifiques d'exposition et d'obscurité dure entre 8 et 15 minutes. L'appareil est conçu pour mettre en œuvre le procédé.
