PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dispersion of an inorganic pigment typified by zinc oxide or titanium oxide, excellent in dispersibility and stability with the lapse of time, forming coat excellent in transparency and suitable especially for cosmetic use, and to provide a method for producing the dispersion.

SOLUTION: The pigment dispersion comprises a solvent and 5-60 pts.wt. silicone having a reactive substituent per 100 pts.wt. inorganic pigment having 5-100 nm average primary particle diameter, wherein, when forming a film having 3 &mum dry film thickness by using the pigment dispersion, the film has &le5% haze. The method for producing the pigment dispersion comprises kneading a mixture of an inorganic pigment having 5-100 nm average primary particle diameter with a silicone having a reactive substituent by using two rolls, and dispersing the obtained kneaded product in a solvent, wherein the nonvolatile in the kneaded products is &ge75 wt.%.
