Provided are piperidine derivative, fluorine containing compounds of the general formula III, wherein the variables are as defined in the specification. Further provided are intermediates of the general formulae I and II. Examples of the compounds include (3S)-3-[3-(2-fluoroethoxy)phenyl]-3-[({ (3R)-1-[3-(piperidin-4-yl)propanoyl]piperidin-3-yl} carbonyl)amino]propanoic acid and (3S)-3-(3-{ 2-[2-[18F]lfluoroethoxy)ethoxylethoxy} phenyl)-3-[({ (3R)-1-[3-(piperidin-4-yl)propanoyl]piperidin- 3-yl} carbonyl)amino]propanoic acid .The compounds are glycoprotein IIb/IIIa antagonists. The compounds can be used as diagnostic agents, particularly for imaging thrombi.
