The diameter of an inserted portion can be made small while making it possible to obtain images from multiple viewpoints, enabling stereoscopic observation. Provided is a scanning endoscope device (1) including an optical fiber (2) provided inside a thin and long inserted portion (5) and having two cores (21a, 22a) that radiate illuminating light beams (L1, L2) to points mutually displaced in a direction crossing the optical axes of the illuminating light beams (L1, L2); a driving unit (4) that scans the light beams (L1, L2) two-dimensionally by causing the cores (21a, 22a) vibrate together in the directions of two axes crossing the longitudinal axis of the optical fiber (2); a light receiving unit that commonly receives return light beams of the illuminating light beams (L1, L2); a detecting unit (8) that separately detects the return light beams received by the light receiving unit; and an image generating unit (9) that generates images of scanning areas of the individual illuminating light beams (L1, L2) from the individual return light beams detected by the detecting unit (8).
