Disclosed is an apparatus for treating food waste. The apparatus for treating food waste according to the present invention comprises: an injecting hopper in which a water supplying means for supplying diluted water to the inside thereof to dilute salt of food waste injected through an opening of a top end part is installed around the opening； a pulverizing and dehydrating means which is installed to be piped with a bottom end part of the injecting hopper and compresses and dehydrates injected food waste to be pulverized； a storing hopper which is installed to be piped with the pulverizing and dehydrating means at a bottom end part of the pulverizing and dehydrating means and stores pulverized food waste and waste water discharged during a pulverizing process； a waste water separating and transferring means which is piped with a bottom end part of the storing hopper to receive the pulverized food waste and waste water, transfers the pulverized food waste to a top end part, and discharges the waste water to a bottom end part； a drying means which is installed to be piped with a top end part of the waste water separating and transferring means and heats and dries the received pulverized food waste； and a collecting box which is installed at a bottom end part of the drying means and collects the dried food waste discharged from the drying means. According to the present invention, as to a sealed storing hopper which accommodates a large quantity of pulverized food waste is prepared, a large quantity of food waste can be sequentially treated. Also, after waste water is discharged from food waste to the outside sufficiently through a waste water separating and discharging means, a drying process for the pulverized food waste is performed.
