The present invention is directed to a door lock assembly (500) for use with a door (18), comprising a movable locking assembly (520) disposed within a recess (502) formed in an edge of a door panel (18) having one or more movable wedge shaped locking elements (522) disposable between a locked position and an unlocked position, a drive assembly (570) operatively coupled to the movable locking assembly (520) for moving the movable locking elements (522) between the locked and unlocked positions, and a latch assembly (600) configured for coupling the door (18) to a door frame (10) and operable independently of the movable locking assembly (520).
