The present invention relates to a method of production of an attractant for male bagworms Metisa plana which is a pheromone lure isolated from females of the species Metisa plana and/or or their bags, the method includes: a) collecting female bagworms and dissecting them from their bag, wherein the female bagworms are sorted according to their stages and calling females are selected b) extracting calling females and/or or their bags using a hydrophilic solvent, wherein the hydrophilic solvent is chloroform and c) collecting the extract and removing trace water by filtration with sodium sulphate, wherein the extract can be further filtered before use, or purified by using flash chromatography, or concentrated under low pressure characterized in that, the attractant is used at peak mating period between 4 a.m. to 8 a.m, and more particularly in between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. wherein the attractant is used at the temperature between 21 °C to 24 °C.
