A watering system may include one or more sensors, watering equipmentconfigured toselectively apply water to a parcel of land, and a gateway configured tocommunicate betweenthe sensor equipment and the watering equipment. The watering equipment mayincludeprocessing circuitry, and a watering pump that is operably coupled to a watersource and a waterline to alternately couple to and isolate the water source from the waterline. The processingcircuitry may be configured to direct the water pump to operate in anoperational mode orvolume mode. The processing circuitry may detect a loss of connectivity to thegateway or oneof the sensors. In response to the loss of connectivity, the processingcircuitry can employ a lastdetermined operational mode and volume mode or override the last receivedinstructions for anoperational mode or volume mode and switches to a default setting.
