The invention relates to a matrix copolymer synthesis process for bio-medical applications. According to the invention, the process consists of the copolymerization reaction of 3,9-divinyl-2,4,8,10-tetra-oxaspiro[5.5] undecane/itaconic anhydride monomers, in molar ratios of 0.5 : 1, 1 : 1, 1 : 0.5 or 1.5 : 1, in dioxane solution for a theoretical solid-matter content of maximum 20%, in the presence of 2,2-azobis (2-methylpropionitrile) radical initiator in a ratio of 0.9% related to the monomer quantity, added in three stages, at the temperature of 75°C, while stirring at 250 rpm, for 17 h, with cooling, reprecipitation in diethyl ether twice, decantation and drying in vacuum oven, at the room temperature.
