PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of quickly and simply creating an embryonic chimeric animal among heterogeneous animals using a stem cell.SOLUTION: A method for preparing a chimeric animal comprises the steps of: (A) injecting a stem cell into a blastocyst cavity in a blastocyst stage of an animal heterologous to that of the stem cell, or mixing the stem cell with a divided fertilized egg of the animal heterologous to that of the stem cell； and (B) growing a cell mass including the stem cell prepared in the step (A) into a chimeric animal between a species of the stem cell and a species of the heterologous animal. The stem cell is any one of an embryonic stem (ES) cell and an induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell.【課題】異種動物間において、幹細胞を用い、胚胞キメラ動物を迅速かつ簡便に作出する技術を提供する。【解決手段】（Ａ）幹細胞を、該幹細胞に対して異種の動物の胚盤胞期の胚盤胞腔内に注入するか、または該幹細胞に対して異種の動物の分裂受精卵と混合する工程；および（Ｂ）（Ａ）工程で作製した該幹細胞を含む細胞塊を、該幹細胞の生物種と該異種の動物の生物種とのキメラ動物へと成長させる工程を包含する、キメラ動物の作製方法。前記幹細胞が、胚性幹（ＥＳ）細胞又は誘導型幹（ｉＰＳ）細胞であるキメラ動物の作製方法。【選択図】なし
