An aqueous surfactant composition comprising one or more alpha-sulfo fatty acid disalts (A) of the general formula (I),R1CH(SO3M1)COOM2 (I),wherein the radical R1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl radical with 6 to 18 carbon atoms and the radicals M1 and M2, independently of one another, are selected from the group H, Li, Na, K, Ca/2, Mg/2, ammonium, and alkanolamine,one or more amidoalkylbetaines (B) of the general formula (II),R2—CO—NH—(CH2)y-N+(CH3)2—CH2—COO− (II)in which the radical R2 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl radical with 7 to 19 carbon atoms and the index y is an integer in the range 2 to 4,and water, where specific limiting conditions are to be observed.The compositions are transparent, storage-stable, characterized by good foaming ability and good viscosity, and are suitable for cosmetic products and also detergents and cleaners.
