The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating sterility. The present invention further relates to a composition for promoting pregnancy or a composition for enhancing ovular endometrial implantation ability. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating sterility, containing paeoniflorin as an active ingredient. The present invention further relates to a composition for promoting pregnancy, or to a composition for enhancing implantation ability. According to the present invention, paeoniflorin increases expression of a leukocyte inhibitory factor (LIF), and promotes fusion between embryo-derived trophoblastic cell and maternal endometrial cell, thereby increasing implantation efficiency in a fertilized egg.
