The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for targeted UVB phototherapy for treating autoimmune diseases and other indications. In one embodiment, the phototherapy system may include a radiation source configured to emit light. At least 75% of the light emitted by the radiation source can have a target wavelength range having a bandwidth from 298 nm to 307 nm. The phototherapy system may also include a controller operably connected to the radiation source and configured to determine a dose for the phototherapy session. The dose can correspond to the product of the intensity of the radiation source and the exposure time of the radiation source and can be limited to a minimum erythema dose (MED) of less than 1.
