The object of the invention is a method and an apparatus for handling of fodder bales, in which invention a bale collection device equipped with wheels (3) is used, onto which device fodder bales (21) are lifted at least one at a time for further handling. The fodder bales (21) to be handled are lifted one at a time from the side of the collection device, with the hoisting appliance (9) accompanying the device, onto the base in the device.
