PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type absorbent article excellent in wear feeling and absorption performance.SOLUTION: A pair of front side leg elastic members 34, 34 is arranged separately from each other in a lateral direction Y and forms a front side discontinuous part 340. A pair of rear side leg elastic members 35, 35 is arranged separately from each other in the lateral direction Y and forms a rear side discontinuous part 350. Both discontinuous parts 340, 350 are located in a central part of an exterior body 3 in the lateral direction Y. A separation area 1D is formed by arranging the front side leg elastic member 34 and the rear side leg elastic member 35 separately from each other in a longitudinal direction X. An opening 5, which has an opening end part on at least one of a skin facing surface or a non-skin facing surface of an absorbent core 23, is formed at a portion corresponding to the separation area 1D in the absorbent core 23 so as to extend continuously in the longitudinal direction X.
