PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for using IL-1 antagonist for treating Alzheimer disease.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for treating, inhibiting or lighting disease characterized by abnormal deposition of β-amyloid in a necessary subject, which includes a process of administering a therapeutic amount of interleukin 1(IL-1) antagonist to the subject, in which the disease or status is treated, inhibited or lightened, or onset or progress of the disease, or at least one symptom of the disease is delayed. The IL-1 antagonist is an IL-1 trap, preferably contains a sequence selected from the group consisting of sequence numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28, and can bond and inhibit IL-1.
