PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which in a configuration where a light amount difference between normal light and special light is suppressed by using a metal net, it is considerably inconvenient in terms of cost and manufacture.SOLUTION: A light source device for an endoscope comprises: a light source for radiating white light a rotary plate having many kinds of light transmission areas which can transmit light of different wavelength regions included in white light a rotation drive part for inserting each of many kinds of light transmission areas in an optical path of the white light by rotating the rotary plate and a shift drive part which can shift the rotary plate in the direction orthogonal to the optical path. In this case, each of many kinds of light transmission areas is placed on a concentric circle of different radius around the rotation shaft of the rotary plate in a different angular range. Also, the shift drive part adjusts a light quantity ratio of light transmitting each of many kinds of light transmission areas by shifting the rotary plate in the direction orthogonal to the optical path.
