The present invention discloses a microcapsule encapsulating a solid sunscreen and preparation and use thereof. The microcapsule comprises the solid sunscreen and a natural polymer. The solid sunscreen is encapsulated in a microcapsule formed of the natural polymer, wherein the solid sunscreen is an inorganic ultraviolet screening agent, an organic ultraviolet absorbent, or a mixture thereof. The natural polymer is agar, agarose, cellulose, chitosan, or a derivative thereof. The microcapsule of the present invention is useful in cosmetics, effectively prevents the solid sunscreen from decomposition, and reduces skin irritation as a result of the separation of the solid sunscreen from the skin.
