A compositing cell for household rubbish, has heat insulating side walls and gable roof. A stack on the roof, houses a fan with an air flow restricting valve. Its double bottom has a number of passages for air and there is an air inlet chamber beneath with a connection for air and steam provided with a heater. Inside the cell there is a temp. control for regulator the heat and the flow of air. - The design makes it unnecessary to install the cell inside a building and ensures uniform fermentation of the rubbish throughout. The air flow is reversible so that pockets of CO2 are eliminated.
