PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing device capable of providing an image of desired definition color components corresponding to the penetration depth of light to a subject.
SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an image capturing system comprising an image capturing device. The image capturing device includes a plurality of first light receiving elements that receive light in a first wavelength region and a plurality of second light receiving elements that receive light in a wavelength region having a penetration depth in relation to a subject that is less than the penetration depth of light in the first wavelength region. The number of second light receiving elements is greater than the number of first light receiving elements. The ratio of the number of second light receiving elements to the number of first light receiving elements may be set according to a ratio of the penetration depth of light in the first wavelength region to the penetration depth of light in a second wavelength region, which is the light in the wavelength region received by the second light receiving elements.
