An optogenetic system and method for preventing or halting seizures. The system and method use a sensor for monitoring the activity of a neural network containing a group of target neurons, and generating an input signal indicative of said activity, the target neurons being excitatory neurons. Excitatory stimulation is delivered in the form of an optical signal by an optical stimulator to the target neurons, the optical signal being determined based on the input signal, to reduce the overall activity of the target neurons.La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé optogénétiques pour prévenir ou arrêter les crises d'épilepsie. Le système et le procédé utilisent un capteur pour surveiller l'activité d'un réseau neuronal contenant un groupe de neurones cibles, et générer un signal d'entrée indicatif de ladite activité, les neurones cibles étant des neurones excitateurs. Une stimulation excitatrice est appliquée sous la forme d'un signal optique par un stimulateur optique aux neurones cibles, le signal optique étant déterminé sur la base du signal d'entrée, afin de réduire l'activité globale des neurones cibles.
