An end effector (400), comprising: a mounting portion (430); a first jaw member (410) extending distally from the mounting portion, the first jaw member including a tissue application surface (411); a second jaw member (420) extending distally from the mounting portion and fixing an actuator connector (426), the second jaw member being able to rotate relative to the first jaw member (410) between an approximate and an approximate state ; and a fastener cartridge (420a) fixed to the second jaw member and fixing a plurality of fasteners in fastener retaining grooves (423b) defined on a fabric application surface (423a) of the fastener cartridge, the connector of the fastener being configured drive (426) to be moved distally along the first jaw member (410) and the second jaw member (420) to approximate the first and second jaw members relative to each other, and be distally moved along of the fastener cartridge (423b) for firing the plurality of fasteners from the fastener retention grooves (423b) and forming the plurality of fasteners against the fabric application surface (411) of the first jaw member, characterized in that said effector further comprising: a lever assembly (414) including a lever (414a) rotatably connected to the first jaw member (410) and rotatably movable ible with respect to the first jaw member between an extended position and a retracted position; and a notch (426d) defined in the drive connector (426), the lever (414a) being applied to the notch when the first and second jaw members (410,420) are in the approximate state, when the drive connector ( 426) is in a proximal position, and when the lever (414a) is in the extended position, the lever being thus applied to the notch (426d) of the drive connector to limit the distal translation of the drive connector before the second jaw member rotate with respect to the first jaw member from the state not approximated to the approximate state to thereby facilitate the rotation of the second jaw memb
