The present invention relates to the use of a compound of general formula: wherein X is a CiO-24 carbon chain with n unsaturations wherein n is an integer from zero to 3 for the preparation of a cosmetic composition and a pharmaceutical composition to increase the skin permeation and retention of active ingredients.
