An electrically powered heater unit (1) comprising a positive temperature coefficient disc heater element (10) sandwiched between an electrically conductive contact element (14) and an electrically and heat conductive heat transfer element (15). A housing (5) defining a hollow interior region (9) is located on a plate member (4), and a communicating opening (3) formed in the plate member (4) communicates with the hollow interior region (9). The heat transfer element (15) is secured to the plate member (4) by retaining member (25) extending from the heat transfer element (15) engaging a rim (28) of the communicating opening (3), with the heating element (10) and the contact element (14) located within the hollow interior region (9) of the housing (5).
