Surgical instruments and end effectors therefor are disclosed. In various implementations, the surgical instrument includes an elongated shaft assembly that defines a longitudinal tool axis. An elongated channel of an end effector is movably coupled to the elongated shaft assembly for selective pivotal travel about a pivot axis that is transverse to the longitudinal tool axis upon application of articulation motions thereto. The elongated channel may be configured to operably support a surgical staple cartridge. An anvil assembly is pivotally coupled to the elongated channel for selective pivotal travel relative thereto between open and closed positions about the pivot axis upon application of closing and opening motions thereto. In some implementations, the anvil assembly comprises a two part assembly.L'invention concerne des instruments chirurgicaux et leurs effecteurs terminaux. Selon divers modes de réalisation, l'instrument chirurgical comporte un ensemble manche allongé délimitant l'axe longitudinal de l'outil. Un canal allongé d'un effecteur terminal est raccordé de façon amovible à l'ensemble manche allongé pour un déplacement prenant la forme d'un pivotement sélectif autour d'un axe de pivotement transversal à l'axe longitudinal de l'outil suite à la mobilisation de l'articulation à ce niveau. Le canal allongé peut être conçu pour supporter de façon fonctionnelle une cartouche d'agrafes chirurgicales. Un ensemble enclume est relié pivotant au canal allongé en vue d'un déplacement impliquant un mouvement de pivotement sélectif par rapport à celui-ci entre une position ouverte et une position fermée autour de l'axe de pivotement suite à la mise en œuvre de mouvements d'ouverture et de fermeture à ce niveau. Selon certains modes de réalisation, l'ensemble enclume comporte un ensemble en deux parties.
